This is a PowerPoint with different moral questions to make students think. For example, “if you borrow a million pounds are you a millionaire?”, “Can you get lost if you don’t know where you are going.” These are great discussion questions for assemblies, debates or citizenship/PSHE/SMSC provision. They will improve communication skills in tutor time sessions or as starters to lessons. They are appropriate for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (11-18 years old).

This was originally a 60 minute Year 10 lesson to introduce the world of work and preparing for job interviews. It covers body language, dress, how to give a good impression at an interview, body language and some suggested careers. There is a worksheet to accompany it with this lesson but it can be used without it. This lesson is suitable for older KS3-KS4 pupils (13-18 years old) and as part of their PSHE, Careers or Work Experience session in a tutor time. It can be easily shortened or lengthened and has worked well with my students.

It covers definitions, the consequences of body shaming, the feelings it involves, statistics and discussion activities about who is guilty of body shaming and what can be done about it. It is suitable for an assembly or for tutor time in KS3 - KS5 (ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and was originally a PSHE tutor time session for Year 11 but could be lengthened easily to fit a whole lesson. This covers the definitions of adoption and fostering, the process and law involved and the reasons why some people choose to adopt or foster children. This is a 15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE session about plastic pollution. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 students (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and fits into the PSHE, Citizenship curriculum and addresses the very important current issue of damaging the environment. This explains what plastic pollution is and how we can minimise waste as an individual and as a society. It gives practical suggestions on how to stop plastic pollution and allows students to have some interesting discussions about why it is hard to recycle all plastics that we buy. This is a 10-15 minute assembly that focuses on the issue of stereotyping. It was originally a Year 7 (Ages 11-12) tutor time PSHE session but it is suitable for an assembly for KS3-KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18). It has some discussion activities and some downloaded videos that will never disappear! It could easily be lengthened to a whole PSHE lesson if needed. This is a 10-20 minute assembly about World AIDS day on 1st December suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It focuses on the campaign of 2021 but can easily be adapted for other years. It is fully narrated and this can simply be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it without narration. It was originally a Year 10 tutor time PSHE session but is suitable for a whole school assembly or session for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It includes some brilliant tips for students to organise their time when they are not in school. It also includes important definitions and examples of the best study techniques so their time is managed effectively. It contains some discussion activities and a plenary task discussing a variety of quotes about time management. It fits into the mental health, key skills, PSHE and core tutor time programmes across secondary school. Students reacted very positively to this presentation and they said it had helped them with managing their time effectively for revision.

This is suitable for upper KS3-KS5 (Years 9-13, Ages 13-18) and fits well into the new RSE & Health curriculum, the PSHE & Citizenship curriculum as well as the Keeping children Safe in Education Safesguarding document. This is a 60-90 minute lesson on Social Action by taking a detailed look at the Birmingham Pub Bombings in 1974 and the Birmingham Six who were unlawfully imprisoned. This was originally a Year 10 Citizenship lesson but is suitable for upper KS3 - KS5 (Ages 14-18, Years 9-13) and could be part of the Religious Education, PSHE or Citizenship curriculum. It is also relevant to the law, British Values and SMSC provision. This is a powerpoint that lasts 15 minutes which can be used from KS2 to KS5 to go through the important topic of Fake News with students. It involves no writing, just discussion questions and videos to give the students a snapshot of fake news in tutor time or a short session. Fake news is part of the new Relationships & Sex Education& Health Education curriculum and also includes a plenary quiz at the end. The videos are downloaded and there are no writing tasks. This can be used for a tutor time session, a PSHE or Citizenship lesson or as a whole school assembly.

This was a PSHE session for tutor time for KS3-5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) which is 10- 15 minutes long and contains videos, discussions and important messages for students about different religious and cultural practices and diversity. This could be used as part of the diversity element of the PSHE and Citizenship programme or could be used as an assembly. The students responded well to this session. There are no written activities and it includes a quiz to check learning and two downloaded videos that will never disappear. One video is about religious festivals and the other about non-religious festivals. This session could easily be lengthened to create a whole lesson for RE on the importance of festivals.

It goes through the legal restrictions of different platforms, the advantages and disadvantages of social media and the addiction it can cause. This is a comprehensive list of all of the online free training courses available for staff to improve their knowledge about topics in the new RSE and Health Curriculum and aid their teaching of PSHE and Citizenship. Each training course has their website, their relevance, timings etc so it is a full list which can be used in a staff training session or put on the Staff online area for people to access throughout the year to complete extra PSHE training courses. Relevant to all Secondary School staff with any interest in PSHE, RSE, safeguarding or mental health.
